Five players 49ers fans should look for in National Championship
We are still about three-and-a-half months out from the NFL Draft, but Monday night's College Football Championship represents the last opportunity we have to watch real-life college football this year.

NFC West news: Russell Wilson names desired destinations, should Seahawks consider a trade
By David Bonilla
Feb 25, 2021
Russell Wilson isn't happy with his situation in Seattle. Earlier this month, the Seahawks quarterback expressed his frustration to reporters.
"I'm frustrated with getting hit too much," Wilson said.
Michael-Shawn Dugar, Mike Sando, and Jayson Jenks of The Athletic report that the quarterback has discussed those frustrations with team decision-makers multiple times and even offered up ideas to fix the situation. Those suggestions were reportedly dismissed, leaving Wilson more frustrated with the organization.
Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports first reported Wilson's growing discontent, naming several potential trade destinations.
"[Wilson and Carroll] have made the playoffs every season but one, won a Super Bowl and lost another,"

The 49ers Should Not, and Will Not, Trade Up to Draft a QB
By Brian Renick
Feb 18, 2021
Carson Wentz was traded on February 18th, 2021, from the Philadelphia Eagles to the Indianapolis Colts, for a 2021 3rd-round pick and a 2022 2nd-round pick that can turn into a 1st-round pick if Wentz reaches 75% of the Colts' offensive snaps in 2021 or 70% of the offensive snaps and the Colts make the playoffs.
With Wentz headed out of Philadelphia, there is not a single quarterback drafted in the first round from the 2012 through 2016 NFL drafts who is still with the team that drafted him (with some not even in the NFL anymore). That is an astounding stretch of incredibly poor quarterback drafting. It also highlights a very important fact about drafting a quarterback in the first round: there are significantly more busts than hits.

Adam Peters explains why the 49ers were at Trevor Lawrence's pro day
By David Bonilla

San Francisco 49ers VP of player personnel Adam Peters recently spoke with Matt Barrows of The Athletic. He was asked about the team's presence in South Carolina to watch Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence. The Niners own the No. 12 overall pick in the upcoming draft, and Lawrence is expected to be the top selection, going to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Yet, San Francisco was among 17 teams in attendance to watch Lawrence.
Peters reminds everyone that there were other players there. For example, one of the receivers that Lawrence was throwing to during the workout was Cornell Powell, who caught 53 passes for 882 yards and seven touchdowns for the Tigers last season.

Jeremiah has 49ers bolstering O-line in latest mock draft
By David Bonilla
Feb 16, 2021
NFL Media analyst Daniel Jeremiah had the San Francisco 49ers selecting former Florida tight end Kyle Pitts in his first mock draft, released last month. In his latest mock draft for NFL.com, the draft analyst has John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan bolstering their offensive line, adding former Northwestern offensive tackle Rashawn Slater.
Offensive tackle Trent Williams is scheduled to become a free agent next month and will require a hefty annual salary to stay with San Francisco. He's worth it, though.
