Simms can't envision a 49ers trade scenario involving Nick Bosa

By David Bonilla

Chris Simms conducted an ask-me-anything version of his podcast, Chris Simms Unbuttoned, and spent a good deal of time discussing quarterback Deshaun Watson and his situation with the Houston Texans. Watson wants out, but the Texans want to repair the estranged relationship. There would be high demand if Watson were actually able to force a trade. His no-trade clause means that he would have a lot of say in any potential destination. It's not a stretch to believe that San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan might be intrigued by the possibility of adding a talent like Watson to his offense. Of course, there is no urgency on the part of the 49ers, as they have made it clear they are pleased to move forward with Jimmy Garoppolo. San Francisco has

Looking at the Road Ahead: Why the 49ers' quest for a sixth Super Bowl win still looks promising

By Don Atkinson
Feb 16, 2021

When the 49ers' injury-driven 2020 season mercifully ended, the team took unwanted claim to the basement of the NFC West at 6-10 and began fielding a litany of questions about its roster future. A few of those questions have been resolved, but many more are still left open, and have become the topic of debate among both football analysts and the team's fan base. The greatest questions, of course, have revolved around whether the 49ers can ride out another year with oft-injured quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who spent much of last season either hobbled on the field or watching from the press box. The fervor over whether Garoppolo can raise his play to a level needed to win a Super Bowl has continued to escalate, making his future with the team, at least to observers, seem shaky

Adam Peters explains why the 49ers were at Trevor Lawrence's pro day

San Francisco 49ers VP of player personnel Adam Peters recently spoke with Matt Barrows of The Athletic. He was asked about the team's presence in South Carolina to watch Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence. The Niners own the No. 12 overall pick in the upcoming draft, and Lawrence is expected to be the top selection, going to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Yet, San Francisco was among 17 teams in attendance to watch Lawrence. Peters reminds everyone that there were other players there. For example, one of the receivers that Lawrence was throwing to during the workout was Cornell Powell, who caught 53 passes for 882 yards and seven touchdowns for the Tigers last season. The

Jeremiah has 49ers bolstering O-line in latest mock draft

NFL Media analyst Daniel Jeremiah had the San Francisco 49ers selecting former Florida tight end Kyle Pitts in his first mock draft, released last month. In his latest mock draft for NFL.com, the draft analyst has John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan bolstering their offensive line, adding former Northwestern offensive tackle Rashawn Slater. Offensive tackle Trent Williams is scheduled to become a free agent next month and will require a hefty annual salary to stay with San Francisco. He's worth it, though.
