'He won't be an elite quarterback': PFF lists 49ers with 'high' QB need due to Jimmy Garoppolo's shortcomings

We have just one sample of a full season with Jimmy Garoppolo as a starter. During that 2019 season, the quarterback led the San Francisco 49ers to 13 regular-season wins and a playoff run ending with a Super Bowl appearance. Outside of that, Garoppolo was a backup in New England and has battled to stay on the field due to injuries in San Francisco. Anthony Treash of Pro Football Focus recently ranked every NFL team's quarterback situation by need. After all, the quarterback can be the most important position on a team, and those that have elite ones can have longer championship windows. The 49ers fell under "high" for quarterback need, which within this ranking means the current starter

This week, Bryan DeArdo of CBS Sports went through the task of naming the greatest win for each NFL franchise. The pick for the San Francisco 49ers shouldn't come as a surprise. It featured an iconic play that launched a dynasty — The Catch. "Trailing by six points, the 49ers needed to travel 89 yards in less than five minutes against Dallas' 'Doomsday' defense," DeArdo said in his recount of the 1981 NFC Championship Game, which was played on January 10, 1982. "Instead of looking for the big play, the 49ers relied on several

"I've been lucky enough to have the career that I've had these past eight years that I'm definitely going to have a lot of options," Juszczyk said last week during a podcast interview. "But I also absolutely love San Francisco. I love playing for Kyle (Shanahan). I love playing for Mike McDaniel. Bobby Turner, my running back coach, is an absolute OG. I want to send him out the right way. "But there's a lot more factors that come into play now. I'm 29 years old. I've been married

Linebacker Fred Warner was a pleasant surprise for San Francisco 49ers fans coming out of the 2018 draft. He immediately showed flashes of what he could be during his rookie campaign, leading the defense in tackles not only then but in each of his three NFL seasons. After spending some time with Warner, the 49ers immediately knew that he might be someone special. They were already impressed with his on-field play at BYU. What sealed the deal in their minds was getting to know the person. Once again, there won't be pre-draft visits this year. As was the case last year, all interviews will be conducted virtually over Zoom or FaceTime. It's unfortunate because those 30 allotted visits can be a great tool in evaluating an incoming rookie. Of course, given the current
