Greg Cosell breaks down the top rookie QB prospects, 49ers' draft options
By Site Staff

NFL Films and NFL Matchup analyst Greg Cosell joined Rich Eisen this week to discuss all of the top quarterback prospects in this year's draft. It is an interesting conversation for fans who would enjoy a little more insight into what the San Francisco 49ers might be looking to do with the No. 3 overall pick.
Cosell shares his thoughts on Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, Justin Fields, Trey Lance, Mac Jones, Davis Mills, and even current New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold. While Lawrence and Wilson are nearly locks to be drafted with the top two selections, the Jets sticking with Darnold would be a draft-altering decision. Cosell shares his thoughts on that scenario.

Steve Young: 'No question' that Zach Wilson is the 'first choice' of the 49ers

Hall of Fame quarterback Steve Young brought up an interesting point during his Wednesday interview on KNBR. The San Francisco 49ers don't expect—or hope not—to be drafting as high as No. 12 in upcoming years. So, if they wanted one of the top quarterbacks, and with next year's crop of prospects not looking as attractive as this year's, moving up in this draft was probably a smart move.
The 49ers would probably never find a way to get into the top three if they sit in the low 20s—or even better, at No. 32. At No. 12, however, they had a shot and pulled it off. They still had to give up a lot, though, to make a move.
Now, the choices appear to be Justin Fields, Trey Lance, or Mac Jones. Trevor Lawrence and Zach Wilson look slated to go one and

NFL Media analysts Bucky Brooks and Daniel Jeremiah went through the exercise of predicting the first three picks for the San Francisco 49ers in this year's draft. The team currently owns one selection in each of the first three rounds — Nos. 3, 43, and 102 overall.
The duo took turns during the Path to the Draft segment on NFL Network, with Brooks going first.
Jeremiah recently had San Francisco selecting former Alabama quarterback Mac Jones in his latest mock draft. Brooks has been critical of the idea that head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch gave up so much draft capital to select

Everyone seems to have an opinion on who the San Francisco 49ers will select with the No. 3 overall pick. Trevor Lawrence and Zach Wilson are widely expected to go at the No. 1 and 2 spots, leaving head coach Kyle Shanahan with his pick of Justin Fields, Trey Lance, or Mac Jones. The first two are considered the better prospects. Of course, there is a lot of chatter surrounding Jones. At least, there was before what some consider to be a less-than-stellar second pro day.
