San Francisco 49ers running back JaMycal Hasty went down with an injury in the fourth quarter of today's loss to the New Orleans Saints. He later left for the locker room to be examined.

The injury left the 49ers with Jerick McKinnon and Austin Walter as the only available running backs.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke with reporters after the game and said that Hasty suffered a broken collarbone. That means he'll probably miss a significant amount of time and will likely become yet another 49ers player to land on injured reserve.

Shanahan is hoping to get running backs Raheem Mostert (ankle) and Tevin Coleman (knee) back after the bye week.

"I'm hoping they are," Shanahan said of their chances to return in time for the 49ers' Week 12 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. "I know they've got a chance at it."

Shanahan also provided the following additional injury updates:

  • Safety Johnathan Cyprien suffered a hamstring injury and did not return.
  • Safety Jared Mayden suffered a quad injury and did not return.
  • Running back Jerick McKinnon suffered a stinger and did not return.
  • Quarterback Nick Mullens was briefly replaced by C.J. Beathard due to a quad injury but returned.

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy threw for a franchise-record 4,280 yards last season, leading the team to the Super Bowl and earning his first Pro Bowl selection. He held onto the football 39 times on the ground, rushing for 144 yards and scoring twice. This marked a significant improvement over his rookie 2022 campaign when he had 22 carries for 13 yards and a score. Purdy further displayed his athleticism during the 49ers' playoff game against the Detroit Lions last season, helping engineer a comeback victory while rushing for 48 yards on five carries. On Tuesday morning, Purdy joined the "Pat McAfee Show," acknowledging that he believes he can contribute more rushing yards if called upon.
