What is 49ers’ future at quarterback?
The Jimmy Garoppolo era might be over. Or, it might not be. Maybe after all the (warranted) speculation over Garoppolo's demise with San Francisco, he comes back healthy next year and looks like the quarterback we saw at the end of last regular season.

Schefter weighs in on 49ers' rookie QB choices, Jimmy Garoppolo's future

Everyone seems to have an opinion on who the San Francisco 49ers will select with the No. 3 overall pick. Trevor Lawrence and Zach Wilson are widely expected to go at the No. 1 and 2 spots, leaving head coach Kyle Shanahan with his pick of Justin Fields, Trey Lance, or Mac Jones. The first two are considered the better prospects. Of course, there is a lot of chatter surrounding Jones. At least, there was before what some consider to be a less-than-stellar second pro day.

Peter King weighs in on Jimmy Garoppolo's status with 49ers, future with Patriots
By David Bonilla

NBC Sports' Peter King weighed in on Jimmy Garoppolo, his status with the San Francisco 49ers, and his potential future with the New England Patriots, the team the quarterback spent his first three-and-a-half NFL seasons with.
First, the 49ers.
Count King among those who aren't confident that San Francisco will trade Garoppolo this year. The team has publicly stated that it plans to enter Week 1 with Garoppolo as the starter. Nothing the 49ers do at No. 3 may change that. Head coach Kyle Shanahan seems content with letting a rookie sit and learn for a year, which will be extremely beneficial considering his offense's complexity.

Jones-Drew on 49ers' draft: 'Fields is a perfect quarterback for Kyle Shanahan's system'

NFL running back turned analyst Maurice Jones-Drew released his second mock draft and didn't have the San Francisco 49ers selecting Mac Jones, going against the national media narrative that the Alabama quarterback is a near-lock to join Kyle Shanahan in the Bay Area. Jones-Drew sees another prospect as a perfect fit for the 49ers head coach's offense.
With Trevor Lawrence and Zach Wilson expected to be off the draft board by San Francisco's pick at No. 3, Jones-Drew has Shanahan and general manager John Lynch selecting Justin Fields of Ohio State. On Wednesday, the two 49ers decision-makers will head to Columbus, Ohio, to watch the former Buckeye throw

Russini: Patriots' interest in 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo has been 'consistent'
By David Bonilla
Mar 31, 2021
ESPN's Jordan Schultz recently reported that the New England Patriots are no longer pursuing San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. Of course, watching John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan being chatty with Bill Belichick and Josh McDaniel at Alabama's pro day on Tuesday is enough to create more speculation.
What were they discussing? Was it where they got their morning coffee? Was Belichick sharing where to obtain golfing attire? Did Garoppolo's name come up at any point during the socialization?
ESPN's Dianna Russini doesn't believe that Belichick and company have given up hope of reuniting with Garoppolo in New England, especially after San Francisco
