49ers open as 3.5-point underdogs in Week 8 matchup vs. Seahawks

Maybe heading into games as underdogs is good luck for the San Francisco 49ers. Kyle Shanahan's squad has been in that position over the last two games and has won each. That is the case again for San Francisco's Week 8 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.
Seattle opened as 3.5-point favorites (O/U 53.5) over San Francisco in the upcoming matchup at CenturyLink Field, according to BetMGM. The Seahawks own a 5-1 record while the 49ers sit at 4-3.
San Francisco is coming off an impressive 33-6 road win over the New England Patriots that saw the offense rack up 467 total yards of offense, including 197 rushing yards. The team hopes to remain undefeated on the road.
"We're in a good spot right now," quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo
said after the game. "We're playing well, all three phases. We're playing together. I think it's just a mindset that we have as a group. You can feel it. I felt it in the locker room today from the guys; felt it all week in practice. It's a good feeling when you're in the groove. We've just got to keep this thing going and keep stacking [wins]."
The
injuries keep piling up for the 49ers, though. The team likely lost another running back after Jeff Wilson Jr. suffered an ankle injury — feared to be a high-ankle sprain — on a touchdown run. Head coach Kyle Shanahan expects second-year wide receiver
Deebo Samuel to miss "some time" with a hamstring injury.
"Hopefully, the severity won't be too bad, and he won't miss too much time," Shanahan added.
Meanwhile, Seattle is coming off a frustrating 37-34 overtime loss to the Arizona Cardinals. While quarterback
Russell Wilson threw for 388 yards with three touchdowns, he also threw three interceptions, including a costly one in overtime that set up Arizona to kick a game-winning field goal.
"I thought we played a great game except for those three plays, honestly," Wilson said after the loss. "Those are my fault. There's so much that we can do, and we have so much confidence. Our confidence is not going to waver. They're a great football team, too. We knew it was going to be a battle. ... I have to be better, which I'm looking forward to."
Wilson also led the Seahawks with 84 rushing yards on six attempts.
The 49ers and Seahawks are scheduled to kick off on Sunday, November 1 at 1:25 p.m. PT.

NFL Communications has officially announced the "NFL legends and active players" who will announce selections during Day 2 of the 2024 NFL Draft. Representing the San Francisco 49ers will be former defensive tackle Anthony "Spice" Adams, who spent four seasons with the team and nine in the NFL.
San Francisco selected Adams out of Penn State in the second round (No. 57 overall) of the 2003 NFL Draft.

49ers sign WR Trent Taylor, reuniting with former draft pick
The San Francisco 49ers announced the signing of wide receiver Trent Taylor to a one-year deal, reuniting with the team's former fifth-round draft pick out of Louisiana Tech.
Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area was the first to report that the 49ers were discussing a potential reunion with Taylor. The receiver was part of head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch's first draft class in 2017 and spent his first four NFL seasons with the team.

Draft Watch: Western Kentucky WR Malachi Corley visiting 49ers on Wednesday
The San Francisco 49ers are hosting several draft prospects this week as the deadline for pre-draft visits draws near. According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2, the team will host former Western Kentucky wide receiver Malachi Corley on Wednesday.
Corley is expected to be a Day 2 pick. San Francisco owns two selections on Day 2—the No. 63 overall pick in the second round and the No. 94 overall pick in the third round. Currently, the receiver is visiting with the Seattle Seahawks.
