San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan provided several injury updates during a conference call this afternoon. Among them was confirmation that cornerback Jason Verrett would miss the remainder of the season after suffering a torn ACL on Sunday against the Detroit Lions. A surprising injury update was that running back Raheem Mostert will miss about eight weeks after sustaining some chipped knee cartilage. He exited the game in the first half and was replaced by rookie Elijah Mitchell. The 49ers spent two draft picks on running backs. In addition to Mitchell, a sixth-round pick, the team drafted Trey Sermon out of Ohio State in the third round.

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke with reporters before today's practice at The Greenbrier in West Virginia. He provided several injury updates as the team prepares for its Week 2 contest against the Philadelphia Eagles. Defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw (knee) and cornerback Emmanuel Moseley (knee) will be among the injured players who will not practice today. Both were inactive for Week 1 against the Detroit Lions. Shanahan was asked if Kinlaw's injury is something that might have to be managed throughout the season. "We're not sure. That's why we're trying to take it slow with him," Shanahan answered. "And when we have, it's gotten better. So, you've got to see how that continues to react. I think we'll be easy with him today.

Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell is busy planning for the San Francisco 49ers, his Week 1 opponent on Sunday. One of many versatile offensive weapons that Campbell and his coaching staff have to prepare for is wide receiver Deebo Samuel, a player with whom the head coach is very familiar. When Samuel entered the draft in 2019, Campbell was an assistant with the New Orleans Saints. "Well, I remember when he was coming out, I loved the player too," Campbell told reporters on Monday (h/t to Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports Bay Area). "I know we did when I was in New Orleans. But I think what makes him unique is his ability to carry the

San Fransisco 49ers third-year wideout Deebo Samuel broke out onto the scene once again during Week 1 against the Detroit Lions last Sunday. The wide receiver put up impressive numbers with 9 catches and a touchdown for a total of 189 yards, the second-highest receiving total by any Niners player on opening week. This comes as a relief to San Fransisco as Samuel once again looked like the promising player he previously showed flashes of whenever he was healthy. In his rookie season, back in 2019, Deebo was touted as one of the best receivers out of the draft right next to A.J. Brown, DK Metcalf, and Terry McLaurin as the blossoming rookie put up 802 yards on 57 catches. However, the very next season, 2020, the injury bug that hit the rest of the Niners roster affected Deebo
