ESPN predicts 49ers will re-sign Trent Williams

The San Francisco 49ers are currently scheduled to have a lot of their players hit free agency next offseason. A lot. Thirty-four players are scheduled to become either an unrestricted free agent or a restricted free agent, according to Spotrac.com. Seven more are scheduled to become exclusive-rights free agents. One of the team's biggest names scheduled to hit free agency is offensive tackle Trent Williams, who has played just nine games with the team. 49ers waive Takk McKinley, add Brandon Aiyuk, Trent Williams, Daniel Helm to reserve/COVID-19 list

The San Francisco 49ers officially announced that the team has waived Takkarist McKinley after the defensive end failed his physical due to a groin injury. Matt Barrows of The Athletic first reported the move. The 49ers also announced that three more players — wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, tight end Daniel Helm, and tackle Trent Williams — have been added to the reserve/COVID-19 list. They become fifth, sixth, and seventh players added to the reserve/COVID-19 list this week. This is the second time on the list for both Aiyuk and Williams.
