Kerry Hyder Jr. joined the San Francisco 49ers this offseason just looking to contribute, do whatever was asked of him, and rejoin his former defensive line coach, Kris Kocurek. He's watched as the team lost Nick Bosa and Solomon Thomas for the year. Reinforcements like Dee Ford, Ronald Blair, and Jullian Taylor aren't expected to be back until later in the season. Until then, Hyder, and those who remain, will be entrusted to hold down the fort.

Another player looking to do the same thing is rookie Javon Kinlaw, who has displayed flashes of his potential while adjusting to life in the NFL. Hyder, now in his seventh season, was asked about his first-year teammate this week, his development, and his future.

"He's a hungry player," Hyder told Keiana Martin of 49ers.com. "He's like hungry for knowledge. He's hungry to do well. He's really a talent, and I'm excited for him. He's getting better every week. And not to say he's not already better. He's just doing a great job."

While Hyder has 3.5 sacks this season, Kinlaw has yet to bring down an opposing quarterback. However, his 10 pressures are tied with Washington defensive end Chase Young for the most among rookies, and his eight hurries lead this year's draft class, according to Pro Football Focus.

"I'm excited for his career and where it's going to go for him," Hyder continued. "He has the passion for it, and he has the mind for it, so I know he's going to do great things."

Rapoport: 49ers send clear message to teams inquiring about Brandon Aiyuk

By David Bonilla
Apr 16

Ian Rapoport didn't offer much of an update on the ongoing contract negotiations between the San Francisco 49ers and their standout wide receiver, Brandon Aiyuk. However, the NFL insider emphasized one thing: The team is not entertaining trade discussions at this juncture. Reacting to Aiyuk's decision to unfollow the 49ers on Instagram, Rapoport couldn't help but chuckle at the latest development. This practice has become commonplace among players who are unhappy with their contract situations. Wide receiver Deebo Samuel similarly took this action in 2022 before requesting to be traded just before the draft. Things have yet to escalate that far with Aiyuk, but Rapoport sees his
