The Atlanta Falcons waived defensive end Takkarist McKinley this week. The San Francisco 49ers currently sit at No. 15 in the waiver wire claim order. That doesn't matter, though, because head coach Kyle Shanahan informed reporters on Wednesday that the team did not put in a claim for the defensive lineman. Injuries have decimated the 49ers roster, including the defensive line. San Francisco lost pass rusher Nick Bosa to a season-ending ACL injury during Week 2, and veteran Dee Ford has not played since Week 1 due to a back injury. Enough Excuses. On Sunday, the 49ers suffered their 3rd straight blowout loss, dropping them to 4-6 and continuing their free-fall to irrelevancy. It was a game they could have won, the opportunities were there, but the 49ers just couldn't muster up more than 13 points of offense. Now, more than ever, the 49ers' 2020 season seems to be completely lost. While many look for a direction to point the finger, and there are a few obvious areas, start with the head coach. San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke with reporters before today's practice and provided several injury updates. The team is preparing to face the New Orleans Saints this weekend. RB Raheem Mostert (ankle) won't play against the Saints. Shanahan hopes to have him back for the team's Week 12 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams — after the bye. RB Tevin Coleman (knee) won't play either. Shanahan also hopes to have him back for Week 12. LB Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles (hamstring) also won't play this weekend. WR Deebo Samuel (hamstring) will not practice today. The team will re-evaluate him tomorrow. CB K'Waun Williams (ankle) will be out "for a while." Injured reserve is a possibility (see below).
