49ers-Chargers joint practice scheduled for August 19 in Southern California

The San Francisco 49ers' only road game of the preseason is a trip to the Los Angeles area on August 22 to play the Chargers at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood. It was reported in June that the two teams would hold a joint practice leading to the exhibition matchup. At the time, NBC Sports Bay Area stated that the two coaches — Kyle Shanahan and Brandon Staley — were working out the details. It appears the details are finalized. In fact, the Niners were the second most injured team over the past two decades, with only the 2016 Chicago Bears having players miss more games in a single season.
