George the jinx? Kittle explains why he had to stop watching 49ers-Jets

George Kittle didn't make the trip to MetLife Stadium with his teammates for this past weekend's game against the New York Jets. He arrived at The Greenbrier in West Virginia — where the team is staying and practicing this week between its two East Coast games — late on Sunday night.
Kittle did watch the Week 2 action, though. Well, part of it, at least. At one point, once the injuries started mounting, Kittle had to stop.
"I was actually doing some rehabbing when I was watching the game," Kittle shared with reporters on Thursday. "I watched the first quarter, and then I saw two injuries, and then I went outside and did my workout."
Those injuries were to defensive linemen
Nick Bosa and Solomon Thomas. Both were carted off the field in a span of three plays, and MRIs later confirmed that both suffered season-ending ACL injuries.
"I decided I was bad luck watching the game on TV," Kittle continued. "The last game I watched on TV was our preseason (game) against the Chiefs. Watching the Niners on TV is not really fun when I should be out on the field with them.
"I'm looking forward to the next time I get the opportunity to play again, whenever that is. I can't wait."
Kittle wouldn't indicate whether or not his media availability meant there was a greater chance of him playing on Sunday against the New York Giants. The tight end is returning from a sprained MCL and bone bruise, according to
multiple reports.
"The last two days (of practices) have gone well," Kittle said. "I feel better every single day, so that's awesome. Just being able to go out there and play football again a little bit is great."
