Rapoport: 49ers were among the teams to put in a claim for Takkarist McKinley

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters on Wednesday that he didn't believe his team put in a claim for Takkarist McKinley after the Atlanta Falcons waived the defensive end this week. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network is hearing differently. The NFL insider reports that San Francisco was indeed one of the teams that tried to acquire the defender. The Cincinnati Bengals were awarded McKinley. Rapoport states that other teams were interested as well. What if Takk McKinley wasn't claimed by the #Bengals? Source

Last week, John Lynch offered a vote of confidence in his quarterback, Jimmy Garoppolo. But it came after the general manager admitted that the San Francisco 49ers were scouting college quarterbacks. To many, the comments didn't mean much. Lynch says the 49ers always scout quarterbacks each year. One good fit for head coach Kyle Shanahan might be BYU's Zach Wilson. 49ers-Saints: Kyle Shanahan provides injury updates on Richard Sherman, Raheem Mostert, K'Waun Williams, others

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke with reporters before today's practice and provided several injury updates. The team is preparing to face the New Orleans Saints this weekend. RB Raheem Mostert (ankle) won't play against the Saints. Shanahan hopes to have him back for the team's Week 12 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams — after the bye. RB Tevin Coleman (knee) won't play either. Shanahan also hopes to have him back for Week 12. LB Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles (hamstring) also won't play this weekend. WR Deebo Samuel (hamstring) will not practice today. The team will re-evaluate him tomorrow. CB K'Waun Williams (ankle) will be out "for a while." Injured reserve is a possibility (see below).
