The San Francisco 49ers announced that the team has released veteran wide receiver Mohamed Sanu from the 53-man roster and tight end Charlie Taumoepeau from the practice squad. News of Sanu's release was first reported by Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Source: The #49ers are releasing WR Mohamed Sanu, as SF gets healthy at the position with some of their young guys. Why did the 49ers release Mohamed Sanu and not ... someone else?

The San Francisco 49ers surprisingly parted ways with Mohamed Sanu today. It was surprising because the veteran wide receiver spent just 18 days with the team before being told his services were no longer necessary. One person who was shocked and seemingly unhappy about the move was Sanu's now-former teammate, rookie Brandon Aiyuk. The first-year receiver shared his disappointment via Twitter but later deleted the post. Here is it from our friends over at @TheSFNiners. Injured 49ers corner Richard Sherman 'fighting to get out there' for Week 6 vs. Rams

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan didn't sound too optimistic that his injured veteran cornerback, Richard Sherman, would be back this weekend against the Miami Dolphins. The defender is eligible to begin practicing this week after landing on injured reserve with a calf injury on September 16. "Not real high on either (Sherman or Raheem Mostert), but I know they do have a chance," Shanahan said on Monday. "Initially, I was told Sherm would be about three to four weeks.
