Fans were awaiting word on the status of San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle, who appeared to suffer a leg injury before halftime during Sunday's Week 1 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Kittle ended up playing in the second half but was held without a catch after his injury.

It sounds like Kittle, at least in his mind, plans to play in Sunday's road game against the New York Jets as the 49ers try to get into the win column.

"Good to go," Kittle texted Mike Silver of NFL Network. "On to New York!"

That's some positive news, assuming the 49ers medical and coaching staffs feel the same way. Fans probably remember that Kittle suffered knee and ankle injuries during Week 9 last season — coincidentally against the Cardinals. He played during the rest of the game but missed the next two.

Kittle sustained his injury on a hit from Cardinals safety Budda Baker while trying to reach for a Jimmy Garoppolo-thrown pass that bounced out of his grasp.

Kittle is the 49ers' best player and signed a lucrative five-year contract extension last month, which made him the highest-paid tight end in football. He had four catches on five targets for 44 yards against the Cardinals, all of which came in the first half.

H/t to Josh Schrock of NBC Sports Bay Area for the find.

By Al Sacco

With the 2024 NFL Draft less than a week away, it's common for the rumor mill to start churning, especially with players who are actively seeking a new contract. It was just two short years ago that WR Deebo Samuel requested a trade from the San Francisco 49ers prior to draft day, only for cooler heads to prevail and eventually agree to a new deal. Now, it's WR Brandon Aiyuk's turn to try and get paid and rumors surfaced over the weekend that he too would request to be dealt. While that report was quickly shot down by his agent, there's still a lot of discussion about Aiyuk's future and if other teams will come calling on draft night. When asked about the possibility of wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk not being on the San Francisco 49ers roster on Friday morning, general manager John Lynch responded, "I wouldn't anticipate that." Lynch assured reporters that signing Aiyuk to a long-term extension is a priority, stating, "And our wish is that he's here and a part of the Niners for the rest of his career. We're working through that." While Lynch didn't elaborate on the conversations occurring behind closed doors, Michael Silver of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that a potential trade remains a

Aiyuk posted a video to Instagram, showing himself dancing and seemingly celebrating the good fortune of one of his NFL peers. The Detroit Lions recently inked their star wideout, Amon-Ra St. Brown, to a lucrative four-year, $120 million contract extension. Aiyuk eagerly awaits his own deal from the 49ers and recognizes that the news out of Detroit will only strengthen his agent, Ryan Williams' hand at the negotiating table. Brandon
