Fred Warner: DeMeco Ryans to add 'his own touch' to the defense, 49ers are 'dialed in' and 'hungry'

Fred Warner has been paid, and the All-Pro linebacker is excited to get back to work. The San Francisco 49ers report to training camp next week and will hold their first practice on Wednesday, July 28. A historic number of injuries derailed the Niners' 2020 campaign, and the team finished with just six wins. In addition, the defense lost its coordinator, Robert Saleh, who left to become the head coach of the New York Jets. DeMeco Ryans, Warner's former position coach, replaces Saleh. While some wonder what this might mean in the immediate future for the defense's production, the star linebacker expects a smooth transition to Ryans. RELATED:

The San Francisco 49ers officially announced the five-year extension for star linebacker Fred Warner. News of the deal was first reported yesterday. "We're extremely excited to have completed a long-term contract extension with Fred prior to the start of training camp," general manager John Lynch said via a statement. "Fred brings the type of leadership and energy every day that our defense and team feeds off. He earned this extension through hard work, discipline, and the professional way he goes about his business. We look forward to watching him continue to play at an

NFL Network analyst Bucky Brooks recently ranked his top five off-ball linebackers in the league, and San Francisco 49ers fans may be disappointed to learn that the team's star defender, Fred Warner, was not at the top of the list. He wasn't at No. 2 either. Warner, who signed a five-year, $95 million contract extension last week, came in at No. 3, behind Bobby Wagner of the Seattle Seahawks and Darius Leonard of the Indianapolis Colts. Maybe that will be further motivation for the 24-year-old linebacker, who has many years in front of him. "The All-Pro has become one of the league's most disruptive players as an

2019 49ers vs. 2021 49ers, Part 1 (Offense)

How well do the 2021 49ers stack up to the 2019 team? Lately I have listened to some podcasts and read some tweets comparing the current San Francisco 49ers team (2021) to the 2019 team that fell just short of winning the Super Bowl. I find the comparison interesting. And since many people quickly assume the 2021 49ers are not as good as the 2019 team, I wanted to take a look for myself. So as we prepare for the team to report on Tuesday, let's compare the two teams, position by position. For the purpose of this very scientific experiment, we will assume everyone is healthy (even though that never happens). Let's start on offense. The defensive comparison is coming soon.
