The San Francisco 49ers have already reduced their roster to 80 players ahead of the August 16 deadline and today begin an acclimation period of training camp that will run through August 11. Matt Barrows of The Athletic broke down what to expect in the coming days, as the team eases its way back to football amid a pandemic.

Each of the first four days will include 60-minute walkthroughs. That timeframe will be bumped up to 75 minutes during the last four days.

Players will have Saturday off.

After that, the 49ers can look forward to getting back on the field for practices with minimal pads. Full-padded practices will begin during the next phase.

49ers players underwent physicals on Saturday, and the good news is that there were no further injury designations over the weekend. That means players who missed last season, like wide receivers Jalen Hurd and Trent Taylor, appear on schedule to return.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch will (virtually) speak to the media together this afternoon. It's the first time the duo has spoken to the media together since the draft. I'll be reporting on what comes of that conversation.

49ers Notebook: Crucial offseason for Purdy; O-line confidence; Shanahan on new kickoff rule, Dobbs signing; Hufanga eyes training camp return

By David Bonilla

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan doesn't have to field as many quarterback questions as he did a year ago after Brock Purdy underwent surgery, the arrival of Sam Darnold, and the uncertainty surrounding the future of Trey Lance. The quarterback situation is clearer now than it has been in recent years. For Purdy, this offseason holds significant importance. It marks the first time he can focus on on-field improvement during minicamps, OTAs, and training camp. While he had this opportunity as a rookie in 2022, he was buried on the depth chart, limiting his practice reps. Last year, Purdy was still recovering from surgery to repair the torn ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in his right elbow. He didn't get to throw to his teammates until training camp in

The San Francisco 49ers likely aren't finished fortifying their defense and have reportedly expressed interest in bolstering their defensive backfield. If they require assistance making a significant move, one 49ers player is prepared to lend a helping hand. Last week, the Buffalo Bills released All-Pro cornerback Tre'Davious White, who appears to be an ideal fit for San Francisco's needs opposite Charvarius Ward. Over the weekend, Ward took to social media to reveal that he and White share the same agent and that he is willing to nudge the free-agent defensive back in the right direction. Ward described White as a "hand in glove
