NFL Network analyst Brian Baldinger joined 95.7 The Game on Tuesday and explained why he believes the reigning NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, San Francisco 49ers defensive end
Nick Bosa, can be even better in 2020.
How much better? Baldinger believes Bosa is a candidate for the NFL Defensive Player of the Year Award.
"I think, honestly, in talking to players that have played with Nick Bosa in practice, and talking to oppositions that have had to block him," Baldinger said on the
Bonta, Steiny & Guru show, "I believe -- and I was with a general manager last night talking about pass rushers and, specifically, Nick Bosa -- I think he's got a very good chance to be the defensive MVP of this league. I think he has that kind of talent.
"And I think he plays with that type of effort that he can swing any game on any play with his ability to get to the quarterback, draw holding calls, you name it. Look, if the 49ers pull off that Super Bowl game, he might very well have been the Super Bowl MVP the way he played in that game."
Bosa had four postseason sacks, including reaching Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes in Super Bowl LIV. That came after a rookie regular-season campaign that saw the young defender rack up nine sacks, 47 tackles, 16 for a loss, 25 quarterback hits, an interception, two passes defensed, a forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries.
"He is probably a top-10 player in this league," Baldinger continued. "You can't say that because he only has 18 to 19 games under his belt right now. But, I think, at this time next year, we could be talking about the premiere defensive player in this league."

Nick Bosa's mother pleaded for Chargers to trade Joey Bosa to 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers probably won't make another big move at defensive end after agreeing to terms with Leonard Floyd and Yetur Gross-Matos on two-year deals. However, before news of the signings broke, the Bosa family seemed to be hoping for brothers Nick and Joey to become teammates in Santa Clara.
The brothers' mother, Cheryl Bosa, responded to an Instagram post speculating about the Los Angeles Chargers trading Joey Bosa to the 49ers. This would unite him with Nick Bosa and create a formidable family duo on the team's defensive line.

49ers-Texans player-for-player trade fell apart on Tuesday
Defensive tackle Arik Armstead is now a free agent after the San Francisco 49ers released him on Wednesday. However, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports that he was almost headed to the Houston Texans.
A source told Barrows that on Tuesday, the 49ers had a deal in place to trade Armstead for Texans defensive tackle Maliek Collins. However, the deal fell apart when the Texans agreed to terms with edge rusher Danielle Hunter.
Despite the failed trade, the 49ers ended up acquiring Collins in exchange for a seventh-round pick, the No. 232 overall selection in next month's draft. Collins is the second defensive tackle San Francisco has added this week, with the
49ers reportedly sought No. 17 overall pick plus Jaguars player for Brandon Aiyuk
Mia O'Brien, a reporter for Jacksonville radio station 1010XL, was the first to link San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk to the Jacksonville Jaguars last week. A new report from O'Brien sheds light on the asking price for the star wide receiver, who is entering his fifth-year option.
According to O'Brien, the 49ers sought the No. 17 overall pick, plus wide receiver Zay Jones, in exchange for Aiyuk. However, it seems this asking price was deemed too high for the Jaguars, who would have had to part ways with these assets and commit significant money to Aiyuk in the form of a contract
Three Key Defensive Free Agents to Make the 49ers Better in 2024
Although the defense finished as one of the top defenses in 2023 under Steve Wilks, the San Francisco 49ers struggled in a few areas, like stopping the run, finishing the pass rush with sacks, and surrendering explosive plays. In this editorial, we will look to find three defensive players to keep the 49ers defense among the elite.
The 49ers have 22 players scheduled to become free agents, 12 being defensive players. The team must address the edge, interior, and cornerback positions. Improving these three areas will keep the 49ers on top.
Three defensive ends—Chase Young, Randy Gregory, and Clelin Ferrell—are set to become free agents. Per Pro Football Focus (PFF), the trio totaled 74 pressures (11 sacks, 17 hits, and 46 hurries). If the 49ers want to
