The San Francisco 49ers announced on Friday that the team has signed offensive lineman
Colton McKivitz, who played college football at West Virginia, to his four-year rookie deal. He becomes the first 49ers draft pick to sign with the team as four remain unsigned.
San Francisco selected McKivitz in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft with the No. 153 overall pick.
McKivitz was a four-year starter with the Mountaineers. He primarily played right tackle but anchored the left side during his senior year and even has experience playing right guard.
"Personally, (I think) I'm a prick,"
McKivitz responded in April when asked to describe his style of play on the football field. "I like to get inside guys' heads. I think that's one of the biggest things. If I can get him to think about me rather than [the offense], then I know I'm winning. That's the one thing I really enjoy about it."
Thanks to the NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), which was ratified in March and extends through the 2030 season, all rookie contracts are for a length of four years.
The total value of McKivitz's four-year contract is believed to be $3,624,780, or very close to that amount,
according to OverTheCap.com. That includes a signing bonus of $329,780 and a 2020 salary-cap figure of $692,445.

Analyst Dane Brugler recently revealed his seven-round mock draft for The Athletic, forecasting all 257 selections in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft, set to kick off next week.
"Piecing together a mock like this is time consuming, but I enjoy the exercise, because it allows me to focus on each team's needs, organizational trends and prospect-team pairings that make sense based on '30' visits, league buzz and overall interest," Brugler wrote.

The San Francisco 49ers first selection in next week's draft comes at No. 31 overall. However, NFL Media analyst Chad Reuter doesn't have the Bay Area team remaining at that spot in the first round. In his seven-round mock draft, he envisions the 49ers striking a deal with the Green Bay Packers to move up six spots to No. 25 overall, where they select former Alabama cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry.
Reuter notes, "Whether it's for a cornerback like McKinstry, an offensive lineman or a receiver, the 49ers could very well give up a mid-round pick to acquire one of the few missing pieces on an otherwise potent roster."
