Jerick McKinnon continues his offseason work and journey back onto the football field for the first time since 2017. The San Francisco 49ers signed the running back in 2018 with the intention of making him a featured weapon on offense. McKinnon hasn't yet played a regular-season snap for the team after suffering a season-ending ACL injury just a week before his regular-season debut.

A setback before the 2019 season once again landed McKinnon on injured reserve.

Rischad "The Footwork King" Whitfield posted the following video of McKinnon showing off his footwork while training this offseason (h/t to Patrick Tulini for the find).

The latest video comes after Whitfield posted the following workout video of McKinnon last month.

McKinnon rushed for 570 yards with three touchdowns on 150 carries and added 51 receptions for 421 yards with two more scores during his last full season — a 2017 campaign with Minnesota.

The running back restructured his contract with the 49ers this offseason, reducing his salary-cap hit on what becomes a deal that will now extend only through the upcoming season.

The San Francisco 49ers are among the 25 teams kicking off their offseason workout program today. However, don't expect to see players facing off against each other on the practice field for the next couple of weeks. The program's early portion, dubbed "Phase One," spans two weeks and includes limited activities such as meetings, strength and conditioning, and physical rehabilitation only. The second phase of the offseason program extends for three weeks and includes on-field workouts for individual or group instruction and drills. After that, teams can hold up to 10 days of organized team activities on the practice field. As the 49ers continue to negotiate a contract extension for wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, it's important to note that all of these sessions are

Former NFL exec on 49ers' Brock Purdy: "I think he needs to find more fire"

By David Bonilla
Apr 14

Brock Purdy isn't one to seek the spotlight. He exudes politeness, respect, and an even-keeled demeanor when speaking to reporters during interviews. Nothing we've seen from the San Francisco 49ers quarterback's time off the field would indicate that it's a facade. However, on the field, Purdy can show some fire, particularly after a big play or in an effort to ensure his teammates are on the same page as him. While praising the third-year quarterback, one unnamed former NFL executive expressed a desire to see more of that fire from Purdy in the future, believing it is crucial to his development. "Brock Purdy is one of the most talented arms that I've seen," the former executive recently
