Former San Francisco 49ers safety Eric Reid isn't ready to praise Jed York after the Niners CEO announced that the team would be making a $1 million donation to local and national organizations that are working to create change by combating discrimination. In fact, he directly criticized the move, indicating that it wasn't enough (h/t to Ali Thanawalla of NBC Sports Bay Area for the find).

Reid played for San Francisco from 2013 through 2017 and spent the past two seasons with the Carolina Panthers before being released in March. Another former 49ers player and teammate of Reid's both in San Francisco and Carolina, wide receiver Torrey Smith, praised York and the 49ers' efforts while speaking from his experience with the CEO.

While Smith shared his positive experience in dealing with York, Reid shared what he feels was a negative one. The safety was among the players who took a knee during the national anthem in protest of social injustice along with former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, and continued doing so in his final season with the team—after Kaepernick's departure.

While York has always publicly expressed support for his players' rights to peacefully protest, Reid paints a very different picture of what happened away from public view, accusing the CEO of begging him to stop kneeling.

Reid wrote the following in response to another of Smith's tweets.

To which Smith responded with the following.

York stated, "And to me, the quarterback is the most important position, not just in football, but in all sports, and those guys should be paid a lot." Last week, Brock Purdy addressed York's comments, showing no concern about the financial implications that will arise next year. Instead, he

ESPN recently conducted a mock draft involving its NFL Nation reporters, where each assumed the general manager role for the team they cover. This unique process benefits from selectors who are intimately aware of each team's needs. The San Francisco 49ers are expected to address their offensive line with the No. 31 overall pick, marking the team's first first-round selection since 2021. Nick Wagoner, acting as general manager John Lynch, had to adapt his plan based on earlier selections taking several offensive tackles off draft boards. With those options gone, Wagoner opted for former Missouri pass rusher Darius
