Last week, the San Francisco 49ers signed defensive lineman Zach Kerr to a one-year deal. OverTheCap.com provided the contract details, for those who are interested. Kerr's deal includes a base salary of $1.075 million with a signing bonus of $50,000 and a total per-game roster bonus of $87,500. $200,000 of the deal is guaranteed. There is only a $971,094 salary-cap hit due to the veteran salary benefit that was part of last year's new collective bargaining agreement. It allows a team to offer a one-year deal to any player with at least four credited seasons at a reduced salary cap

Everyone seems to have an opinion on who the San Francisco 49ers will select with the No. 3 overall pick. Trevor Lawrence and Zach Wilson are widely expected to go at the No. 1 and 2 spots, leaving head coach Kyle Shanahan with his pick of Justin Fields, Trey Lance, or Mac Jones. The first two are considered the better prospects. Of course, there is a lot of chatter surrounding Jones. At least, there was before what some consider to be a less-than-stellar second pro day. inside the mind of Kyle Shanahan pic.twitter.com/Vq10jeqIcx— Josh Norris (@JoshNorris)

ESPN's Jordan Schultz recently reported that the New England Patriots are no longer pursuing San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. Of course, watching John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan being chatty with Bill Belichick and Josh McDaniel at Alabama's pro day on Tuesday is enough to create more speculation. What were they discussing? Was it where they got their morning coffee? Was Belichick sharing where to obtain golfing attire? Did Garoppolo's name come up at any point during the socialization? ESPN's Dianna Russini doesn't believe that Belichick and company have given up hope of reuniting with Garoppolo in New England, especially after San Francisco

Analyst calls the idea that the 49ers traded up for Mac Jones 'a punch to the stomach'

Longtime draft analyst Matt Miller is convinced that the San Francisco 49ers traded up to the No. 3 overall pick for Alabama quarterback Mac Jones, and he doesn't sound too happy about it. He grew up as a Niners fan, and the idea that his favorite NFL team might select Jones over a prospect like Justin Fields of Ohio State disturbs him on two fronts—as a fan and an analyst. "As a lifelong Niners fan, that's such a punch to the stomach," Miller said on the Dan Patrick Show. "I'm trying to trust (general manager) John Lynch and (head coach) Kyle Shanahan, but I remember when they said they didn't need a quarterback and they passed on Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson only to pick up C.J. Beathard in the third round. "I'm still a little gun-shy about
