Jeff Wilson Jr. says criticism of 49ers’ Jimmy Garoppolo, Kyle Shanahan is unfair

isn't the only San Francisco 49ers player who is tired of hearing about his quarterback, Jimmy Garoppolo, being criticized for his late-game performance against the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIV. With the 49ers holding onto a 10-point lead late in the game, the offense wasn't able to manage much, allowing the Chiefs to storm back and score 21 unanswered points to win the game.
Garoppolo completed just three of his 11 passes for 36 yards, an interception, and a passer rating of 2.8 in the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl. Still, the quarterback wasn't the only one who was, perhaps unfairly, criticized. Head coach Kyle Shanahan also took some heat for his seemingly questionable game management.

Wilson joined Steve Wyche on NFL Network's
Total Access on Tuesday and was asked if the criticism of Garoppolo and Shanahan is fair.
"No, it isn't because we were in the Super Bowl,"
Wilson responded. "Both of those guys got to the Super Bowl. With all the criticism (this season saying) they'll be 4-10, they won't win this amount of games, they won't do this, won't do this, but we got to the biggest stage there is.
"No matter if we win, lost, or tied in that game, they got there. Those two guys helped us get there, and they played a big role in that. So I feel like the criticism, they shouldn't have that, at all."

According to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area, the San Francisco 49ers hosted former Florida State wide receiver Johnny Wilson on a pre-draft visit this week.
Wilson registered 41 receptions for 617 yards and two touchdowns in 10 games as a senior in 2023, per Sports Reference. His best statistical season came in 2022 when he hauled in 43 passes for 897 receiving yards and five touchdowns.
Throughout his collegiate career, Wilson caught 102 passes for 1,757 yards with eight touchdowns over four seasons. He spent his first two seasons with Arizona State before transferring to Florida

We are less than one week away from the NFL Draft, and the San Francisco 49ers have their first day-one draft pick since 2021. That was the year they selected QB Trey Lance number three overall.
