A few more games like the Week 14 nail-biter last season could change that. Whoever is running the 49ers' social media account might want to ignite something, judging by an impressively clever tweet on Thursday. The post was meant to remind fans to wear masks during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which threatens the 2020 NFL season and sports in general. 49ers offer refunds to season-ticket holders, say Levi's Stadium may not host fans in 2020

The San Francisco 49ers on Wednesday sent out emails to season-ticket holders informing them of their options for the 2020 season. The team notes that it does not yet have definitive details on what the preseason schedule might look like. It also took the opportunity to communicate the approach to ticket sales at Levi's Stadium for this year. The team acknowledges that Levi's Stadium may not be able to host fans in a "full or limited capacity" during the upcoming season. "To ensure the health and safety of our season ticket members, players, coaches, staff, and the greater community and to comply with state and local restrictions, we may not be able to host fans in a full or limited capacity this season," read the email.
