The NFL is entering an unpredictable territory. Teams will report to training camp later this month and do so amid a pandemic, which shows little to no sign of ending anytime soon. The league is taking precautions, however. The question is whether or not it will be enough to prevent the spread of COVID-19 throughout the NFL, potentially halting — or possibly ending — the season. The NFL wants to reduce the preseason schedule by two weeks, eliminating half the exhibition games. Was this the worst call against the 49ers in team history?

Mike Phillips of FanSided endeavored to name the worst call against each NFL team in their history. So naturally, I skipped past 31 NFL teams and headed straight to the call that went against the San Francisco 49ers. The FanSided contributor chose the holding call against Ronnie Lott in the NFC Championship Game during the 1983 season. San Francisco had won just one Super Bowl at that point and was fighting for its second Vice Lombardi Trophy. Washington had jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the third quarter and looked well on its way to easily eliminating the 49ers. The 49ers started mounting a fourth-quarter comeback, though. Joe Montana hit Mike Wilson for a score.

Fred Warner's contract named the 49ers' most team-friendly by Bleacher Report

The San Francisco 49ers are big on building through the draft, and that can lead to several team-friendly contracts for some young up-and-coming NFL stars. Now and then, you miss on a high draft pick, though. The Reuben Foster selection in 2017 forced the 49ers to spend big on Kwon Alexander when the team was forced to part ways with the troubled young linebacker. The emergence of another young linebacker may have made up for that, though. San Francisco made Fred Warner a third-round draft pick a year after the Foster selection, and that rookie contract has been named the team's best-value by Bleacher Report's Brent
