Arik Armstead just misses NFL Top 100 Players of 2020, ranking No. 104

So close. San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Arik Armstead had a career-high and team-leading 10 sacks last season and added two more in the playoffs. The team rewarded him with a five-year deal worth up to $85 million. NFL Network is counting down the NFL Top 100 Players of 2020. In doing so, it revealed some of the names who just missed this year's version of the annual ranking. Armstead came in at No. 104 in voting. Trent Williams expects Jerick McKinnon to be 49ers' breakout player

Trent Williams got a good look at San Francisco 49ers running back Jerick McKinnon this offseason. The two were part of a small group of players working out in Houston with Washington running back Adrian Peterson. Before that, Williams became McKinnon's teammate when the offensive tackle was traded to the 49ers in April. From what Williams has seen, he expects the running back to surprise a lot of people this season. "I'm looking forward to seeing Jet," Williams told reporters on Thursday via a video conference call. "After two years, the way he's looked in the offseason, I just can't fathom him not being a breakout player." McKinnon

Richard Sherman points out flaws in PFF's grading system

Let me first point out that Richard Sherman was Pro Football Focus' highest-graded (90.3) cornerback last season. The San Francisco 49ers veteran defender is one of just two cornerbacks who have been targeted more than 250 times over the past decade and allowed a completion rate of less than 50 percent. The other is Darrelle Revis. Sherman is pretty good, and the analytics back that up.
