49ers' Kyle Shanahan is Shrinking in the Spotlight

By Gilbert Brink
Nov 16, 2020

Enough Excuses. On Sunday, the 49ers suffered their 3rd straight blowout loss, dropping them to 4-6 and continuing their free-fall to irrelevancy. It was a game they could have won, the opportunities were there, but the 49ers just couldn't muster up more than 13 points of offense. Now, more than ever, the 49ers' 2020 season seems to be completely lost. While many look for a direction to point the finger, and there are a few obvious areas, start with the head coach. Sure, there have been a plethora of injuries, but one side of the ball has been handling those injuries much better than the other. San Francisco 49ers running back JaMycal Hasty went down with an injury in the fourth quarter of today's loss to the New Orleans Saints. He later left for the locker room to be examined. Shanahan is hoping to get running backs Raheem Mostert (ankle) and Tevin Coleman (knee) back after the bye week. "I'm hoping they are," Shanahan said of their chances to return in time for the 49ers' Week 12

By Kirk Larrabee

Had a few key plays gone differently in their 27-13 Week 10 loss to the New Orleans Saints, perhaps the San Francisco 49ers might be traveling back to the Bay Area with an upset win in their pocket and a much different vibe heading into their bye week. But, unfortunately, the 49ers had too many plays go in the wrong direction against the Saints that altogether eventually wound up costing them the game. One such play was a failed fourth-down conversion late in the second quarter that saw running back Jerick McKinnon stuffed for a two-yard loss. The play came on a fourth-and-one at the Saints' 41-yard line and followed an incomplete pass attempt from Nick Mullens to Brandon Aiyuk on the play before. 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan explained his thought
