The San Francisco 49ers have 12 retired jersey numbers. Some of the most iconic athletes in franchise history wore them. For some, their names are among the most well-known in all of sports. CBS Sports recently released a list of the best player to wear each jersey number in NFL history, and the 49ers are well represented (h/t to Matt Flanagan for the find). Sherman, Williams, Moseley listed among best cornerback trios by Pro Football Focus

The San Francisco 49ers boasted the league's best pass defense last year, which was led by veteran cornerback Richard Sherman. He didn't do it alone, though. The group, consisting of Emmanuel Moseley opposite Sherman, and K'Waun Williams covering in the slot, earned a combined Pro Football Focus grade of 89.2 between the three players.
