The San Francisco 49ers may have a punishing duo of starting wide receivers heading into 2021 thanks to a couple of draft picks over the past two years that appear ready to pay off. The team selected Deebo Samuel in the second round in 2019 and then Brandon Aiyuk in the first round a year later. Both could be gearing up for breakout NFL campaigns. Aiyuk hauled in 60 receptions for 748 yards and five receiving touchdowns as a rookie. He also carried the football six times for 77 yards and two more scores. His receiving yards total ranks third all-time in franchise history for a rookie while his receptions rank second all-time, and his receiving touchdowns tie for second among first-year players. Only Deebo Samuel and Jerry Rice had more receiving yards as 49ers

It's been a long journey back for San Francisco 49ers pass rusher Nick Bosa. He suffered a devastating knee injury during Week 2 of last season and admitted the road to recovery was often "really rough" on him mentally. Bosa was entering his second NFL season and coming off an impressive campaign that earned him NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year honors. The injury derailed everything. Luckily, he had the support of his family, including his brother, Los Angeles Chargers edge rusher Joey Bosa. "Once you get past the initial pain of [the injury], then there's really no other option but to come back better," Bosa told reporters after Thursday's practice. The coaching staff has limited Bosa during training camp practices. The defender is vital to the

"I have no injury," wrote San Francisco 49ers defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw via an Instagram story. Out of an abundance of caution on the part of the team, Kinlaw has been limited in practices this week, working in individual drills but not in team drills. Head coach Kyle Shanahan informed reporters on Wednesday that the former first-round pick recently underwent a procedure to reduce the swelling in his knee, indicating that it was related to the "clean-up procedure" Kinlaw underwent after last season. "He had, traveling and stuff like a month ago or something, [his knee] just swelled up a little bit," Shanahan said. "I don't know whether they drained it or not. I'll get it exactly for you guys tomorrow. But just a minor thing. And so, he had to stay off of it

2019 49ers vs. 2021 49ers, Part 1 (Offense)

How well do the 2021 49ers stack up to the 2019 team? Lately I have listened to some podcasts and read some tweets comparing the current San Francisco 49ers team (2021) to the 2019 team that fell just short of winning the Super Bowl. I find the comparison interesting. And since many people quickly assume the 2021 49ers are not as good as the 2019 team, I wanted to take a look for myself. So as we prepare for the team to report on Tuesday, let's compare the two teams, position by position. For the purpose of this very scientific experiment, we will assume everyone is healthy (even though that never happens). Let's start on offense. The defensive comparison is coming soon.
