John Lynch denies report that 49ers looked into trading Ahkello Witherspoon: 'That was never a discussion'

Matt Barrows of The Athletic reported on Friday that the San Francisco 49ers had looked into trading fourth-year cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon this past week. "At one point during the week, the 49ers were looking into trading Witherspoon, and Witherspoon was aware of this," wrote Barrows. "For one reason or another, that plan was scrapped." The San Francisco 49ers may be getting back to full strength as the team prepares for its Week 1 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. The 49ers won't begin issuing practice participation reports until Wednesday. Until then, here is what reporters noticed at the start of Monday's practice. Second-year defensive end Nick Bosa rejoined his teammates on the practice field. Dee Ford received some light work last week and was out there with Bosa on Monday. Linebacker Dre Greenlaw, who returned last week after spending time in the concussion protocol, was no longer wearing a blue no-contact jersey.
