"You've got to get that guy!": Nick Bosa pushed for 49ers to acquire this rookie

The San Francisco 49ers officially announced the signings of five undrafted rookies. Four had already been reported on May 1. The other, offensive lineman Alfredo Gutierrez, was assigned to the 49ers as part of the NFL's International Player Pathway program, which had also already been reported. San Francisco didn't draft a linebacker this year. In the sixth round, the team considered doing so but opted to select running back Elijah Mitchell out of Louisiana. Even DeMeco Ryans, the team's defensive coordinator, advised the team to draft Mitchell over a linebacker. "Well, you should take this guy. He's pretty good," Ryans said, referring to Mitchell,

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan expects to get defensive end Nick Bosa back in the lineup this season. The young pass rusher missed most of last season, his second in the NFL, after suffering a torn ACL during Week 2. It wasn't the only injury the team endured in 2020, but it may have been one of the most impactful — at least, on defense. Bosa has been showing off videos of his progress rehabbing from the devastating injury, and the 23-year-old defender looks on track to return to full strength. And we all remember what Bosa was at full strength. He was named the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year after a 2019 campaign that included nine regular-season sacks

Being from the Bay Area has given 49ers offensive lineman Aaron Banks a different start to his NFL career than the rest of his fellow rookies, in a very convenient way. Banks, who grew up in Alameda, California before moving away to play his college football at Notre Dame, was at home in the Bay Area when the 49ers announced on April 30 that they'd be making him their second-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Since then, he's had the pleasure of being able to hop in a car and make the drive down to Santa Clara to 49ers facilities instead of the much longer trip that the rest of his draft class needed to make. That proximity to Santa Clara has helped Banks get comfortable this week as he and the other rookies take part in rookie minicamp. "It's definitely made the

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Trey Lance, the No. 3 overall pick in this year's draft, stepped onto the field in Santa Clara for the first of three practices during the team's rookie minicamp. The Friday afternoon session is the only one that will be open to the media, and it gave reporters their first opportunity to get a look at the former North Dakota State star. Matt Barrows of The Athletic seemed to sum things up well with the following tweet. First observation of a Trey Lance in a 49ers uniform: He's big.— Matt Barrows (@mattbarrows)
