The 49ers have traded an edge rusher, which could allow their newest edge rusher to claim his college uniform number. On Saturday, the 49ers dealt Dekoda Watson and a sixth-round pick (No. 212) to the Broncos in exchange for a fifth-round selection. The 49ers previously didn't have a fifth-rounder because they traded it in 2017 for guard Laken Tomlinson. Watson, 31, served as a core special-teams player who had 10 tackles and two sacks in his two seasons with the 49ers. He wore No. 97, the same digits sported by Joey Bosa, their No. 2 overall pick, at Ohio State. Bosa's selection is a reason Watson became expendable. The 49ers began the third day of the draft by trading their fourth-round pick (No. 104) to the Bengals in exchange for pick No. 110 and two sixth-round selections (183, 198). Twitter: @Eric_Branch

According to Sports Illustrated contributor Noah Strackbein, who writes for "All Steelers" on the network, there's a level of confidence within the Pittsburgh Steelers organization that they can strike a deal for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk—and at a bargain rate.
"According to a team source, the Steelers and 49ers trade talks are real," Strackbein wrote. "While nothing is imminent, they 'would be surprised if it didn't happen.' But it all comes down to compensation, and Pittsburgh isn't willing to budge much on price."
While it seems unlikely that the 49ers would part ways with Aiyuk for anything less than a first-round draft

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy achieved a remarkable feat in 2023, setting a single-season franchise record with 4,280 passing yards. This accomplishment is noteworthy, considering the illustrious quarterbacks who have graced the organization's history.
