Cornerback Jason Verrett has struggled to get onto and stay on the football field during his NFL career. He was labeled as injury-prone after landing on injured reserve during five of his first six pro seasons. The San Francisco 49ers are currently scheduled to have a lot of their players hit free agency next offseason. A lot. Thirty-four players are scheduled to become either an unrestricted free agent or a restricted free agent, according to Spotrac.com. Seven more are scheduled to become exclusive-rights free agents. 49ers open practice windows for Raheem Mostert, Jeff Wilson, sign safety Chris Edwards, others

The San Francisco 49ers have signed safety Chris Edwards to a one-year deal. The team has also opened the practice window for two players on injured reserve — running backs Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson Jr. Mostert has been on injured reserve since October 24 as he recovered from a high-ankle sprain during a Week 6 contest against the Los Angeles Rams. Wilson suffered the same injury a week later against the New England Patriots and landed on injured reserve on October 31.
