Kyle Shanahan provides injury updates on Joe Williams, Erik Magnuson, others

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan provided injury updates on several players via a conference call on Sunday. Three of those injuries were from Saturday's game against the Houston Texans.
Below is a rundown of the injury updates from Shanahan.
G Erik Magnuson will be "out for a while."
"It will go early into the year," Shanahan said. "He had a hamstring strain which was a bad one. If I had to give you guys a time(frame), six to eight weeks but who knows? It's going to be a while."
RB Joe Williams will miss "at least" Week 1 of the regular season with a rib fracture and has a "very bad" bruise.
"He's got some issues too," Shanahan said.
The head coach says the decision on what to do with Magnuson and Williams won't be made until next week. The 49ers have the option to place the players on injured reserve with a designation to return.
QB C.J. Beathard suffered a foot sprain and will be "slowed down" this week. He will be re-evaluated on Monday.
The head coach doesn't believe Beathard's injury will require a boot on his foot.
"I didn't notice it on the field but definitely saw it on the tape," Shanahan said. "It looked pretty bad. He was walking around alright today, but it's tough to tell with C.J. because he's so tough. But I think we'll have a better idea on Tuesday how he's moving."
Shanahan also provided several updates about players who entered Saturday's game injured.
CB Richard Sherman (hamstring) is expected to practice this week as the 49ers prepare for the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday.
"We expect him to practice Tuesday," Shanahan said. The cornerback will need to practice all of this week to play on Saturday.
DE Arik Armstead (hamstring),
CB K'Waun Williams (ankle), and
LB Malcolm Smith (hamstring) will get some work in individual drills this week.
"All three of those guys are kind of in the same boat," Shanahan said. "We'll put them in individuals and see how they go."
DE Solomon Thomas and
T Garry Gilliam are still in the concussion protocol and will be re-evaluated on Tuesday.
WR Max McCaffrey is still dealing with his foot injury, and the team will see how he is on Tuesday.
There is no change to the statuses of
RB Matt Breida,
RB Jerick McKinnon,
TE George Kittle, and
DB Marcell Harris. The two running backs and Kittle are not expected to play again in the preseason, and the 49ers hope to have them back for Week 1. Breida and Kittle suffered separated shoulders during the 49ers' exhibition opener against the Dallas Cowboys while McKinnon sustained a calf injury during practice on August 12.
Harris sustained a hamstring injury last week during a joint practice with the Texans.
