The season ended prematurely for offensive tackle Mike McGlinchey and defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw. McGlinchey suffered a torn quad in the San Francisco 49ers' November 7 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Kinlaw has been dealing with a knee injury that was initially sustained at the end of last season. He recently underwent ACL reconstruction. "Evaluation of the knee in surgery confirmed suspicions that the ACL had chronic changes that would be best treated with ACL reconstruction," read a joint statement from the 49ers medical staff, Dr. Tim McAdams, and Dr. Neal ElAttrache. "This procedure gives him the best opportunity to make a full recovery and return to

The San Francisco 49ers are preparing to play the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. Offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel and defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans spoke with reporters after today's practice. Here is everything they had to say. Transcript provided by the San Francisco 49ers Communications staff. Offensive Coordinator Mike McDaniel On the fourth-and-six play, I was hoping you could describe if QB Jimmy Garoppolo is throwing to a spot there rather than to WR Deebo Samuel per se. And is that a trust play with anticipation for that ball to be there in that tight window for them to make that play? "That's a cool question because that's kind of how your past game, you want it to be. There's a rhythm and

Did uncalled holding penalties help the San Francisco 49ers en route to their big offensive performance against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday? Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer seems to think so. Zimmer told reporters after his team's 34-26 loss to the 49ers at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara on Sunday that the 49ers were holding with frequency throughout the game and that officials weren't consistent in calling penalties. Zimmer made the comments after being asked about runs made by 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel, who had six carries for 66 yards and two touchdowns during the game. "I think we misaligned on that one (run). The other ones were -- these guys hold all the time, so they're grabbing us around the waist, grabbing our backs," Zimmer said. "The

49ers RB Elijah Mitchell continues to impress with surprisingly productive rookie season

San Francisco 49ers running back Elijah Mitchell continued the highly impressive rookie season that nobody saw coming on Sunday, rushing for 133 yards and one touchdown on 27 carries in his team's thrilling 34-26 win over the Minnesota Vikings. It was the fourth 100-yard game of the season for Mitchell, and making it more impressive is the fact he did it less than two weeks after having surgery for a fractured finger (November 16). It's the latest chapter in a performance that has made Mitchell the best rookie on the 49ers roster, which is something nobody could have predicted from the University of Louisiana product when they made him their final selection in the 2021 NFL Draft at pick 194 overall in Round 6. The selection of Mitchell was actually a bit of a
