Peter King of NBC Sports recently told KNBR listeners that San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is the most compelling NFL story this year. He spent time with former Dallas Cowboys quarterback turned CBS analyst Tony Romo last week at the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship Tournament, and the two discussed Garoppolo significantly.

King was on Good Morning Football on Monday and said he believes that, after this year, everyone will view Garoppolo as a top-five NFL quarterback.

"[Romo] could not stop talking about what a huge advantage (49ers head coach) Kyle Shanahan is for a young quarterback," said King.

That advantage is evident on first downs, King explained, with Shanahan able to scheme big chunk plays to help the 49ers offense on later downs.

"I just think that at the end of this year, we're going to be talking about Jimmy Garoppolo as a top-five quarterback in the NFL," said King.

Garoppolo completed 120 of his 178 passes for 1,560 yards with seven touchdowns and five interceptions in five starts and six game appearances with the 49ers last season. The quarterback signed a massive five-year deal in February to remain in San Francisco.

Could the 49ers trade up in the draft for a top tackle?

By David Bonilla

The San Francisco 49ers are likely hoping that a top offensive lineman drops to them at No. 31 in the first round of this month's draft. Having two studs bookending the offensive line would go a long way in protecting franchise quarterback Brock Purdy. While tackle may be the first-round target, depending on how the first 30 selections play out, San Francisco might have to trade up to get a genuinely impactful

The San Francisco 49ers have 10 selections in the upcoming draft, with their first two picks at No. 31 overall and No. 63. Reuter noted, "I kept some semblance of realism in this process, however, assigning each player only once and making reasonable projections of where prospects may be selected." Who are the standout picks for the 49ers? Reuter envisions the team addressing both offense and defense with their initial selections. It's widely anticipated that San Francisco will bolster its offensive line with
