Bourne is Standing Out in a Crowded Field

For much of this spring, 49ers wide receiver Kendrick Bourne has been a bright spot. The second-year pass catcher, an undrafted free agent from Eastern Washington in 2017, came on strong at the end of his rookie year and wound up with 16 receptions for 257 yards — a 16.1-yard average — with one 54-yarder. The 6-foot-1, 203-pounder then continued to look strong through organized team activities (OTAs) and the recent full-squad minicamp. Now, Bourne — competing for a job against a crowd of wideouts — is looking like a much stronger candidate to win a roster spot. With Marquise Goodwin, Pierre Garcon, Trent Taylor, Dante Pettis, Aldrick Robinson, Aaron Burbridge, Victor Bolden Jr., fellow rookie Richie James and Max McCaffrey, the competition will be fierce. But as Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee noted following minicamp last week, Bourne continues to impress.Barrows wrote that nine of his 16 catches came over the final four games of 2017, and he continued his momentum into June."He was prolific in nearly every practice that was open to the media and caught passes with the first-, second- and third-string offenses," wrote Barrows. Rapoport: 49ers send clear message to teams inquiring about Brandon Aiyuk

By David Bonilla
Apr 16

Ian Rapoport didn't offer much of an update on the ongoing contract negotiations between the San Francisco 49ers and their standout wide receiver, Brandon Aiyuk. However, the NFL insider emphasized one thing: The team is not entertaining trade discussions at this juncture. Reacting to Aiyuk's decision to unfollow the 49ers on Instagram, Rapoport couldn't help but chuckle at the latest development. This practice has become commonplace among players who are unhappy with their contract situations. Wide receiver Deebo Samuel similarly took this action in 2022 before requesting to be traded just before the draft. Things have yet to escalate that far with Aiyuk, but Rapoport sees his

By Al Sacco
Apr 16

With the 2024 NFL Draft less than a week away, it's common for the rumor mill to start churning, especially with players who are actively seeking a new contract. Now, it's WR Brandon Aiyuk's turn to try and get paid and rumors surfaced over the weekend that he too would request to be dealt. While that report was quickly shot down by his agent, there's still a lot of discussion about Aiyuk's future and if other teams will come calling on draft night.
