Richie James Added to 49ers’ Wide Receiver Corps
At 5-foot-10 and 183 pounds, Richie James is on the small side for an NFL wide receiver.But James, from Middle Tennessee State, produced in a big way in college and caught the eye of the 49ers, who used their final pick in the just-completed NFL draft to get James.James ranks No. 1 in Middle Tennessee State history in catches (244), receiving yards (3,261) and TD catches (23). His final season was shortened because of a broken collarbone in 2017, but he still had 31 catches.Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee wrote that although James' size would indicate he might be best as a slot receiver, he'll start out at one of the wideout positions, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.At the time of his selection by the Niners, James received a vote of approval from longtime ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr."Wide receiver who made big plays in that Blue Raider offense," said Kiper on TV. "He can catch the ball and then take that big hit. Has some quickness, has some ability to gain some separation and then on the sidelines, be able to get the foot inbounds. The Pro Football Focus (PFF) Mock Draft Simulator was used to create this mock draft.
In mock draft 5.0, I continued using the "best player available" model for the San Francisco 49ers. This week, the 49ers' position of need and value met in the first round.
Round 1, Pick 31
CB, Kool-Aid McKinstry, Alabama
The 49ers have three defensive backs in the last years of their contracts. Charvarius Ward is a veteran in the last year of his deal with the team, and Deommodore Lenoir and Ambry Thomas are playing in the last year of their rookie contracts. Kool-Aid McKinstry is one of the best outside corners in the 2024 NFL Draft.
McKinstry has excellent lateral agility, is strong in press-man coverage, and tackles well

After the success of "Quarterback," the NFL has announced a new series on Netflix called "Receiver." This series will follow a similar format but focus on those who haul in passes. San Francisco 49ers fans will be delighted to learn that two popular team players, wide receiver Deebo Samuel and tight end George Kittle, will be among those featured in the upcoming show.
The two 49ers stars are among the most charismatic individuals on the roster, so it's easy to see why they were chosen for the series. The other stars of the show will be Davante Adams of the Las Vegas Raiders, Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings, and Amon-Ra St. Brown of the Detroit

Details emerge on 49ers' 1-year deals with Jon Feliciano and Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles

Offensive lineman Jon Feliciano and linebacker Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles recently re-signed with the San Francisco 49ers on one-year deals. OverTheCap.com has revealed the contract information for both deals.
Feliciano signed a contract that includes the minimum base salary for a player with eight accrued seasons of experience—$1.21 million. Flannigan-Fowles' base salary is slightly higher, at about $1.77 million. Feliciano is scheduled to count about $2.28 million against the 2024 salary cap, while Flannigan-Fowles is slated to consume almost $1.3 million. The linebacker's reduced impact is due to the 49ers using a portion of up to $1.45 million of salary that won't count against the salary cap for veteran players.
