No secret to one of 49ers’ offseason needs

The 49ers need cornerbacks. The need is so glaring that general manager John Lynch isn't bothering to play coy in advance of free agency. Last week, as Lynch discussed the 49ers' interest in cornerbacks Vontae Davis, who signed with the Bills, and Marcus Peters, who will be traded to the Rams, he said it didn't take a "savant" to see the team's CB cupboard was a bit bare. Lynch also referenced the roster hole when discussing how last year's release of cornerback Tramaine Brock after a domestic violence arrest came with a cost. "… He was a starting cornerback for us and we didn't take that lightly," Lynch said.

Brock Purdy isn't one to seek the spotlight. He exudes politeness, respect, and an even-keeled demeanor when speaking to reporters during interviews. Nothing we've seen from the San Francisco 49ers quarterback's time off the field would indicate that it's a facade.
However, on the field, Purdy can show some fire, particularly after a big play or in an effort to ensure his teammates are on the same page as him. While praising the third-year quarterback, one unnamed former NFL executive expressed a desire to see more of that fire from Purdy in the future, believing it is crucial to his development.

49ers begin offseason workout program today

The San Francisco 49ers are among the 25 teams kicking off their offseason workout program today. However, don't expect to see players facing off against each other on the practice field for the next couple of weeks. The program's early portion, dubbed "Phase One," spans two weeks and includes limited activities such as meetings, strength and conditioning, and physical rehabilitation only.
The second phase of the offseason program extends for three weeks and includes on-field workouts for individual or group instruction and drills. After that, teams can hold up to 10 days of organized team activities on the practice field.

Why one analyst is worried for Brock Purdy if 49ers trade Brandon Aiyuk

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy achieved a remarkable feat in 2023, setting a single-season franchise record with 4,280 passing yards. This accomplishment is noteworthy, considering the illustrious quarterbacks who have graced the organization's history.
A significant portion of those yards came from wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, who amassed a career-high and team-leading 1,342 receiving yards. Most of his 75 catches originated from passes thrown by Purdy.
