The Falcons backup quarterback could follow offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan to the 49ers, who can officially hire Shanahan after Super Bowl LI on Sunday, ESPN reported. Schaub surrendered his role after a stretch during which he had an interception returned for a touchdown in an NFL-record four straight games. In 2009, with Shanahan, Schaub led the NFL in passing yards (4,770) and also had career-highs in touchdown passes (29) and passer rating (98.6). Schaub, a Pro Bowl selection in 2009 and 2012, ranks 10th among active quarterback in passer rating (89.1), 15th in passing yards (24,867) and 17th in touchdowns (133).

WR Kendrick Bourne "definitely" wants to stay with the 49ers
By Kirk Larrabee

Kendrick Bourne is one of several players on the San Francisco 49ers who may have played his final game with the team on Sunday, but it sounds like he'd prefer to extend his time in the Bay Area well past this season if he has any say in the matter.
Bourne just finished his fourth season with the 49ers and is now slated to be an unrestricted free agent after re-signing with the team as a restricted free agent in the spring. Bourne has 132 catches for 1,693 yards and 11 touchdowns since joining the 49ers as an undrafted free agent out of Eastern Washington in 2017. He has also established himself over his career as one of the team's top depth options at receiver, but the 49ers have a number of key players to re-sign this offseason in addition to Bourne and a limited amount of

Kyle Juszczyk hopes to return to the San Francisco 49ers next season. Like so many of his teammates, he is scheduled to become a free agent. The fullback knows the situation, though. The team is pressed up against a salary cap that is expected to fall in 2021. That means some tough decisions are to be made, and Juszczyk is already by far the highest-paid fullback in the league. He is also the best and a key component in the 49ers' rushing attack.
Juszczyk spoke with reporters on Monday via Zoom and was noticeably emotional while discussing his NFL future.
"To be honest with you, it's just kind of a sense of (being) unsure," Juszczyk said of his NFL future. "I'm not totally sure what's ahead for me. I don't want it to be a sense of finality. Honestly, it's just
