The San Francisco 49ers aren't anywhere near where they want to be five games into the regular season, but they're also not exactly down on themselves either as their bye week gets underway. The 49ers fell 17-10 to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, which marked their third consecutive loss after opening the season with wins over the Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles. The loss sent the 49ers to 2-3 on the year after defeats at the hands of the Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks in previous weeks, and at the moment they face a sizable deficit in the NFC West behind the 5-0 Cardinals and 4-1 Los Angeles Rams. They're also dealing with a long list of injuries, most notably those to quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (calf), tight end George Kittle (calf), running

The San Francisco 49ers started 2-0 but have since lost three consecutive games. No one inside the organization is panicking, though. Instead, the focus remains on one game at a time. That means looking toward the Indianapolis Colts, not backward at the Green Bay Packers, Seattle Seahawks, and Arizona Cardinals. At 2-3, San Francisco sits in last place within the NFC West. However, general manager John Lynch is confident he and head coach Kyle Shanahan have built a roster that can rebound. The 49ers are in their bye week, and a lot of football remains in this 17-game season. "I'm fully confident [the pieces are in place to turn things around] because of the people in our room and the character of the people in our room, because of the people we have in leadership

The San Francisco 49ers have lost three consecutive games and look to turn their season around on Sunday night against the Indianapolis Colts. At 2-3, the team finds itself looking up at the division-leading Arizona Cardinals (6-0) and Los Angeles Rams (5-1). The Niners have lost to the Cardinals and Seattle Seahawks and have yet to play the Rams. Williams says there is no panic in the building. The team knows the locker room is talented enough to rebound on its own. "We're not waiting for somebody to walk through the door," Williams told reporters after today's practice. "We've got all the talent we need in-house. ... We've just got to put it all together on Sunday." San Francisco still has four division matchups remaining. There remains a chance

John Lynch optimistic that 3 games off will give 49ers a George Kittle 'at full strength'

San Francisco 49ers general manger John Lynch joined KNBR today and provided a bit of an update on the team's injured tight end, George Kittle. There had been hope that Kittle might be available for this past weekend's game against the Arizona Cardinals. However, the 49ers ended up putting their star tight end on injured reserve the day before kickoff. That means Kittle will have to miss three games. The first was this past Sunday's game. He will also have to sit out the matchups against the Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Bears. Kittle will be eligible to return on November 7 when the 49ers host the Arizona Cardinals. While there is always the possibility of a setback, Lynch feels optimistic that Kittle will be back for that Week 9 contest. "That was
