On Monday, the San Francisco 49ers began padded practices. The contract extension for Deebo Samuel was also announced. It's a fun time of the year, as the team prepares to make another run for a sixth Super Bowl championship. We opened up the 49ers mailbag and had plenty of questions to choose from. San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan provided several injury updates via a conference call on Saturday afternoon, the day after the team's 28-21 win over the Green Bay Packers in its preseason opener. DE Drake Jackson The rookie defensive end left Friday night's game in the second quarter. Shanahan said after the game that Jackson was dealing with a "shoulder stinger" and would undergo further tests. That's what it turned out to be, said Shanahan. CB Dontae Johnson The veteran cornerback left the game in the fourth quarter and was evaluated for a rib injury. "Dontae Johnson has ribs/cartilage fracture," Shanahan said. "He'll be week to week."
