49ers-Packers Injury Updates: Drake Jackson questionable with shoulder injury
By David Bonilla
Aug 12
The San Francisco 49ers opened their three-game 2022 exhibition schedule with their only preseason home game, a matchup against the Green Back Packers.
The Niners entered the game without their two starting cornerbacks, Charvarius Ward and Emmanuel Moseley. Ward is dealing with what head coach Kyle Shanahan called a "muscle strain," while Moseley is sidelined with a hamstring strain. Also out due to injury to start the game is defensive lineman Arik Armstead (knee sprain) and running back Elijah Mitchell (hamstring).
Several 49ers players, including tight end George Kittle, tackle Trent Williams, running back Jeff Wilson, fullback Kyle Juszczyk, wide receivers Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk, defensive linemen Nick Bosa, Samson Ebukam, and Charles Omenihu, and

Deebo Samuel made it through one of the toughest offseasons of his NFL career. He waited to see what would come of his contract extension. The San Francisco 49ers star saw several other wide receivers receive big paydays, making the already agonizing wait worse.
That is behind him now, though. San Francisco locked Samuel up through the 2025 season, making him one of the highest-paid receivers in the NFL and the second-highest paid player on the roster. Of course, he'll own the top spot once quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is moved.
"It's been a long six, seven months," Samuel told Tom Pelissero and Maurice Jones-Drew on NFL Network after Sunday's practice. "I'm just like, 'Hurry up and get this over with so I can get back out here with the guys.' I was more eager to

CB Dontae Johnson
The veteran cornerback left the game in the fourth quarter and was evaluated for a rib injury.
"Dontae Johnson has ribs/cartilage fracture," Shanahan said. "He'll be week to week."

49ers remove Leon O'Neal Jr. from IR with injury settlement
By David Bonilla

A small San Francisco 49ers roster move came across the NFL transaction wire on Friday, ahead of the team's preseason matchup against the Green Bay Packers. The Niners have removed safety Leon O'Neal Jr. from the injured reserve list with an injury settlement.
San Francisco initially waived/injured O'Neal on Wednesday. The rookie safety reportedly said on social media that he had suffered a groin strain. O'Neal went unclaimed and reverted back to the 49ers' injured reserve list on
