Well, they did...if they re-sign Belt and Posey, as they did Craw, that money won't be coming off the books...still beholden to Longoria for another year or two. We thought we were going to shed all this salary after this year, but as it turns out, those three are still some of our better players. We are famous for paying for past performances, though. Hope these don't turn out to be "Aubrey Huff" type deals.

Longo is only 1 more year with a buyout.
Will Posey win Comeback Player of the Year for a 2nd time?

The Sporting News just named him their Comeback POY, along with Kapler as Manager of the Year, and Zaidi Executive of the Year.

He better since he got shafted in the GG nominations. Not saying he should win it this year, but Yadier Molina is on the list (which is an absolute joke).

Probably. Though opting out should be different.

Posey quietly had one of the greatest free agent/extension contracts in baseball history. He completed his entire 9 year, $167 million extension, has been worth every penny, and is still the teams top priority to bring back. Such a rarity in the game today.

Hes not just coming back from opting out though. His career was on life support in 2018-2019, at least offensively. He revived his All-Star self in a big way.
Bob Melvin the new Padres manager. Guess Bochy is staying retired.

I highly doubt he comes out of retirement for either of those crap jobs.

The Padres job was his perfect situation, so him not interviewing for it tells you he's not interested in managing again right now.

Yeah, and it hasn't translated to anything. They collapsed in epic fashion last year, the players were lashing out at the fans, the front office needs a rebuild, and the market is brutal for any manager. Why on earth would Bochy want to manage in NY? Especially in their current state. That Lindor contract looks like a massive anchor on the future now. Bochy is way too chill for the NY media. He'd be getting grilled over every loss and be wishing he had stayed retired.

Wow. I'm guessing he had a bad strain and was on the verge of a tear and best option was surgery.
