Keep it up, Eldridge!

Hard to get excited even about Eldridge. I'm to the point where I just expect anyone the Giants bring up will struggle. The list is long.

This team is back doing the .500 two step again.

This team has better talent than last year. At least on paper. That's what makes this all the more frustrating. Better talent. Same result. It loks like they're going to hold auditions for RF the rest of the year. First Matos. The Encarnacion. Then McCray. Now Gilbert. First base will be a 3 man rotation with Smith, Devers and Flores.

Great managers know when to take their starter out and rely on the bullpen. Melvin struggles with this. Webb looked bad in the 6th inning and he gets absolutely ripped in the 7th.

Well, that should be a wrap on 2025. They don't belong near the playoffs anyway, and I believe Posey sensed so at the trade deadline. I am curious to see how Posey will handle his rushed decision to extend Melvin and his entire hitting coaching staff because extending all of them at this point is simply laughable. Can't fire all the hitters although I would have loved to do so with most of them, so someone has to go. With few additions, new manager and hitting coaches I'd give them one more shot next year. Not Melvin, unfortunately he had done a very poor job in his primary responsibility, motivations and readiness to play. That can't be carried into next year.

Melvin's extension is for one more season. He makes $4 million. That's less than the MLB average for one player. I seriously doubt that eating $4 million will be an issue in a sport where players are making so much.
Imo they really have no Buster type leader on that roster.

Just fire Melvin and have Buster be the President, manager, and DH. Problem solved.
Last night summed up.

Striking out looking THREE times should lead to a benching. I'm sorry but thats beyond pathetic.

This team is done.

Things that need to happen now until next year.

- Fire Bob Melvin, he's not the guy. Doesn't maximize talent, that was the critique when he was hired, he's done nothing to disprove that.
- Relegate Pat Bailey to backup, he's not a starter.
- Find a starting quality C
- I think a decision needs to be made about Adames and Chapman. You can't keep both of them, they are basically the same player. .230 hitter who strikes out a ton, leaves too many guys on base and plays good defense. Probably would be a bad look to trade Adames, I would consider trading Chapman and move Devers to 3B.
- Who is our RF?
- Bring Up Eldridge

What else am I missing?

team is built. we have a lot of money on the books that isn't going anywhere, unless posey is out. posey made all the moves. probably should add a couple arms in the FA market. i like how ppl don't like the team, yet no criticism of posey. posey extended melvin, extended chap, signed adames, traded for devers prior to selling at the deadline, and so forth. he built what you see now on the field.

Anyone who thinks Patrick Bailey is a backup doesn't know baseball. You dont bench a gold glove catcher because he doesn't hit. You bat him 9th and ignore his offensive production. His defense is something of far greater value.

Posey made absolutely the right moves on paper and the ownership opened up the check book for him, that has to be commanded. No one expected that abomination of the result when basically the total drags of the league are the ones who really did the Giants in. There is embarrassing common denominator I see that can be dealt with is team's total unpreparedness game to game, culminated in mental errors and total minutia of other circumstances leading to frustrating losses. Whether it had not been communicated to them or not strongly instilled, it is on manager.

It is much more than just about the money. Posey's word and the image is on the line here. For the President of the team that can be much more important than the money.
