Who knows if this will work....

Shortly after the press conference was announced, CBS reported that McMahon will announce later today that the XFL is indeed coming back in 2020.

While the return of the XFL will be made official Thursday, CBS Sports has also learned that the league is not expected to start up again until 2020. McMahon, who rushed the original XFL into existence without so much as a full slate of offseason practices to prepare for the league's inaugural year, has apparently learned his lesson from one of the XFL's biggest initial mistakes.

One distinction from the XFL 1.0, CBS notes, is that McMahon is doing this on his own, not as a WWE venture. He reportedly sold $100 million of his WWE stock to fund Alpha Entertainment.

The new league's distribution package will be key here, and it's not likely that NBC is signing up for a 50 percent ownership stake this time around.

And while it seems McMahon has learned from his business mistakes this time around, it will be interesting to see if he recognizes the football-related opportunity he missed in the XFL's first life. The public's attitude to football is different in 2018 than it was in 2001, so McMahon will have to change the product to match that.

key will be insanely hot cheerleaders.
Are the San Francisco Demons coming back?
lol bringing back something that has no demand seems like a huge waste of time. Itll be about as successful as it was the first time.

ya, it'll be a bunch of has-been and never-been players. He needs a different angle. And that angle is upskirts of stripper-like cheerleaders.

Nope. This league will be anti Kap from what i read.

"Bixenspan has a theory. The trademarks were all filed in mid-September, when the NFL was in full swing and the player anthem protests were in the news constantly. With the "United Football League" and "for the love of football" trademarks, there definitely seems to be a message, and that message is not about exercising your constitutional right to protest.

Beyond that, a writer at the far-right website Breitbart mused that this new league could easily be made into a "Make America Great Again" league that caters to Trump supporters. The writer told Bixenspan that he was just editorializing and not stating facts, but Trump himself gave a speech in September in which he railed against the NFL and its players. And Vince McMahon has a long relationship with Trump which even made it into the ring at one point."

I'm in
A while back I was telling someone that it's just Vince trying to get some of the "Herp derp boycott NFL until they're forced to stand!!" idiots to watch.

I give it a season. Or less.

That dude the the perfect character. He's so good at what he does. lol
They won't force the players to stand. If anything it will go back to how it was before and they'll leave them in the locker room. Controversy squashed.

But it does make sense that Vinnie would do this for Trump. His wife is on his cabinet.
He will try and capitalize on the NFL's "issues." Probably make it a more "patriotic" league. McMahon is uber conservative.
