Pre season means nothing so we will not count those.

37 yard punt return sets up TD

Postgame, Hayne told reporters that he was disappointed he didn't score. Still, the highlight-reel play marked San Francisco's longest punt return since LaMichael James returned one 40 yards in 2013.

Not bad for a rookie, never put on pads or played the game before.

That may be the case, but given the context of the last few days, the locked and deleted threads. With Warnings and penalties dished out its pretty poor form for a mod to be coming into the same thread "taking the piss" of a posters question, rather then attempting to simply answer it direct.

If Context is everything the poor form old chap.... poor form

That's a long time ago in sports, let alone in the not for long NFL.

He been playing NFL level since 2007 as well. So,was at vet level one could say when at the 49ers.

Great stats, hope Hayne vpcan get somewhere near that level for a few seasons. Helps the 49ers win some games.

Can't see any other PR offering more upside in the squad, anyone else think we have a better option presently?
Jo

Have a look at this one mate. Very good story. Gives great insight into the 49ers dynasty and the origins of the West Coast Offense. Click on the Youtube link.

Just messing around. He's intriguing for sure. I think he has a future as a returner. I just don't see the skills as a RB. Maybe this offseason he'll get comfortable, make quicker decisions and translate that into better game sped.

I was watching an interview about how he's been trying to adjust to the weight of the pads. It's hampered his speed quite a bit. Apparently he's much faster. He just needs some time to adjust to the equipment. Maybe we'll see that this year.

He is a lot faster than what he looks like right now, i also think the equipment is hampering his natural movement, even that helmet would restrict the vision he is used to, he still has a way to go and i also think he will make a better pr than running back, i just hope chip can use him in a role where they can get him into space one on one, this is where i believe he will eventually excel, if you want him as an everydown RB, might as well cut him now, his ability is to make the first man miss, he is faster than what it looks like when running in the open field, he tends to glide over the ground when at full speed, so he needs to be used way better than the previous coaching staff did! If Chip can think outside the square for Hayne, then he will still have a chance of making the 49ers this year, we don,t talk much about it but why he is barely used as a gunner when active was just mind numbing, the 2 chances i saw him get, he was the first man down there and assisted in both tackles, from replays i think he came from the other side of the field for one, he has got speed!
