Verlander hit 100 many times including as late as the 8th inning. His average sat at 96 early in his career. He was known for dialing it up once runners were on.
There are no scouting reports for Ohtani against Major League hitters. The point is, he won't be throwing 99-100 very often.
Who you are facing doesn't change a velocity scouting report.
And of course he won't hit 100 often. That wasn't your point when you chimed in that starters don't hit 100. Few can but those who can do hit 100 when they need to. That was my point. He has 100 mph in his arsenal. Thanks for agreeing.
If he wont hit 100 often, whyd you bring it up like it was a factor? I said starters dont hit 100 consistently, and that only a select few aces have the ability to pace themselves into throwing 100 near the end of their start. Ohtani probably isn't going to start out at that level. Maybe in time.

Not doing it consistently doesn't mean it isn't a factor. Being able to dial it up to 100 when needed is a huge factor. It's something he did in Japan. Hopefully he can bring that ability over.

It is always so hard to win in Oakland. Must be the drums. Great win though!

the guy who kept whistling was so f**king annoying, had to mute the tv lol
this Pujols hitting 4th is gonna hurt us on offense this year...again.
our offense would be so much better if
1 Cozart
2 Kinsler vs lefties / Kole vs righties
3 Upton
4 Trout
5 Pujols
6 Kinsler or Kole
7 DH
8 Simmons
9 Maldonado
Also, Parker needs to just be a set up guy, let Cam or Middleton close games.
