Wow. @mcten: Lakers plan to reach out to Chicago Bulls for permission to interview Tom Thibodeau, a league source tells ESPN Los Angeles.

He'd be my top choice if he's available.

What they need to do is get rid of the washed up Kobe

He is washed up because he was hurt? There is no doubt that he is overpaid but you have no idea if the man is "washed up". Anyway, with his contract there isnt a team that would take him at this point.
Cut him

I doubt it too. Certainly not for the Lakers given their current situation. Would be very surprising. Now the Dubs... possibly????

Yea and the other team will have to compensate them with draft picks and unless you're already a contender and just needs the right coach to take you all the way (like Clippers) - doubt you will trade away draft picks. So, it'll make no sense for Lakers to trade/exchange draft picks for a coach.

Now, Warriors fit that bill - but they don't have a pick. Maybe future picks can be included
Did Pete submit his resume yet?
heh

Unless Silver has a different POV on it than Stern did, you can't trade coaches.

EDIT: Nevermind...Stern was gonna veto the trade involving DeAndre Jordan. He got dealt for a pick.

All the usual names are popping up as candidates. What about Fred Hoiberg? I've had my eyes on him as an up and coming, young coach. Did a really nice job at Iowa State, but he's an NBA guy. 10 years in the league as a player, and FO experience with the T'Wolves. Not a bad choice if you can't land Thibodeau. Other names like Gentry, Karl, JVG, Rambis would be poor hires IMO.

Hoiberg's a name that I've heard as a future NBA coach as well. Just don't think it would be the Lakers. I think he's more likely to end up in Minnesota.

Supposedly he already told them no

Smart man.
My new sig on LG:

GoldenThroat for next Head Coach of the Lakers!

I'd be cool with Byron Scott, Hollins or even George Karl. We need proven winners.
Vegas odds.

RJ Bell ‏@RJinVegas Next #Lakers coach: Calipari, Thibodeau, Ollie 4/1; Fisher, S. Van Gundy, B. Scott 8/1; Kerr, Karl, 10/1 - via sportsbook.ag
